A new affordable housing community for older adults is moving forward on Columbus’ West Side, bringing additional living options to the growing Westland area.
The Columbus City Council has approved funding for Clover Glen II, a 96-unit senior housing development proposed by National Church Residences.
The project will be located at 100 Galloway Road, just across from the first phase of Clover Glen, which opened last year on West Broad Street and quickly became home to dozens of residents aged 55 and older.
City leaders authorized an initial $4.3 million allocation from the city’s affordable housing bond fund, including a first installment of $2.3 million that will allow the developer to finalize the land purchase as early as April.
Plans call for a single building with 96 residential units designed specifically for seniors, expanding on the original Clover Glen community, which features 92 onebedroom apartments.
Developers expect construction to begin this summer, with the first residents potentially moving in by late 2027 or early 2028.
For many in the Westland and West Side communities, the project represents a continued effort to address the need for affordable and accessible housing for older adults—an issue that has become increasingly important as the population ages.
Clover Glen II is part of a broader wave of development led by National Church Residences across the Columbus area. Earlier this year, the organization opened Berwyn East Place, an 88-unit senior housing community on the city’s Far East Side.
Additional projects are also underway, including new construction in the King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood, highlighting a sustained investment in affordable housing throughout the city.
Founded more than six decades ago, National Church Residences has grown into one of the nation’s largest nonprofit providers of senior housing, with communities in more than 20 states. As construction prepares to begin, Clover Glen II signals continued growth on Columbus’ West Side— offering new opportunities for seniors to remain in the community they call home.
